Once we stepped in to the restaurant, it's full and packed with people. We seated there for quite some time but there's still no one come and clean up the table that we seated. No one take order for us. Oh~ my >_< Can you imagine that the restaurant just has few staffs working during CNY?? After requested for few times, then only got staff come and take order for us. We need to wait for an hour for the food being served =.=ll
Yee Sang
"Yee Sang" in Cantonese or "Yu Sheng" in Mandarin (鱼生) is a must dish during CNY. The name of "Yee Sang" or "Yu Sheng" has the word rhymes with 'birth' in Chinese. As you know, Chinese like to give an auspicious names to dishes, especially on such a big occasion especially on Lunar New Year. In Chinese, "Yu Sheng" is interpreted as (余升) an increase in abundance.
Huat~
While in Cantonese, it's known as "Lo Hei" (捞起), families and friends get together at the dining table, stand up and toss the shredded ingredients into the air with chopsticks by saying various auspicious wishes loudly. The higher you toss, the merrier it will be. But some folks are too excited while tossing the "Yee Sang" and it might dropped on the table or even on your arms. Anyway, Chinese believes that those shredded vegetables that dropped out on the table is very auspicious. =D
