Hon Kee Porridge @ Taipan, USJ


Are you tired of rich, oily and meaty food?? If so, then the light taste is a welcome alternative. HONKEE Porridge has carved a name for its famous fresh sliced porridge and other specialties over the past 63 years, bringing you the original recipe that has been the best porridge stall in town. The name of HONKEE Porridge famous since 1949; run by 3 generations, started by their late grandfather whom owned the stall six decades ago in Petaling Street, Kuala Lumpur.

Being recommended by ji mui, and there is no doubt for me to try on this famous restaurant at their 4th branch it Taipan, USJ, which is just a few door step away from the KFC outlet.


Being a first timer walking into this shop, I'm totally no idea what is famous in this shop. Don't have any recommendation from the waitress nor waiter as everything is in self-service basis [pencil & ordering form].
After flipping the menu for several times, finally I ordered myself a bowl of Golden Triple Egg Porridge, a new favorite in the menu list. Really wondering how is the porridge looks like. =D

As usual, while waiting for the food being served, my hand start itchy. Can't stop myself from snapping photos for my blog purposes. =D

Finally my long waited Golden Triple Egg Porridge is served within 10-15 minutes. Can't stop myself to snap the photo of the porridge. =D Oh~ the porridge is served with three different types of eggs; century eggs, salted eggs and raw egg. Also not forgetting some slices gingers and chopped spring onions. Mixed around all the ingredients before eating. Hmm, how is the taste?? Let me taste on it first. =D Wow~ it's amazing!! The texture of the porridge is very smooth and moistening. Add some Chinese crullers or better known as You Tiao will make it more tastier. Yummy, yummy~!!

As for ji mui, she ordered herself a bowl of the signature dish, Raw Fish Porridge. She's fish lover, so she's definitely loves the raw fish on her bowl of porridge. Dipped the raw fish inside the hot porridge and eat together with it. Absolutely fresh without fishy odor. If you prefer yours to be well-cooked, remember to dunk all those raw fish in the hot porridge, so that the steaming heat is hot enough to cook the fish completely.
