Chu 15 - Chap Goh Mei 2012

Yuanxiao (元宵) or better known as Chap Goh Mei Festival; is a festival that celebrated on the fifteenth day of the first month in the lunar year in the Chinese calendar and also showed that it is the last day of Chinese New Year celebration.

The first month of the Chinese calendar is called 'yuan', and in ancient times people called night as 'xiao'; therefore, the day is called Yuan Xiao Festival in mainland and Taiwan. The fifteenth day is the first night one can see a full moon in that lunar year. At this time, people will 'tangyuan'(glutinous rice ball) and enjoy a family reunion. Eating 'tangyuan' on the fifteenth day of Chinese New Year has a long history in China. Chinese believes the round shape of the balls and the bowls where they served, come to symbolize the family togetherness. It can bring the family happiness and good luck in the new year.

Same like previous year, bf n I will back to Klang for Chap Goh Mei dinner.  A simple dinner comes with chicken, fish, vegetables, pork and soup. (Busy eating.. forget to snap photos).

Right after our dinner, bf suddenly take a pack of plastic bag out from a cupboard. *Wondering what is inside the plastic bag.* Followed him out and only realized that the plastic bag was contained some fire crackers @_@

When on the way back from Sepang Gold Coast, we dropped by to Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Kuala Lumpur International Airport or KLIA serves the capital city of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, and is one of Southeast Asia's largest airports. It is also Malaysia's main international airport. It is situated in the Sepang district, in the south of state of Selangor, about 50 km from Kuala Lumpur.

Nigel bugged to June, saying that he never been to KLIA before and ask her to bring him to there. June showed him the road directions from Sepang Gold Coast, as this is his first time to there. Approximately 25 minutes drive to KLIA. That time was heavy rain with storm. But we managed to reach there with the slow driving speed of 80 km. Parked our car at the cover roof parking area, with the parking fees of RM4 per hour.

Next, we stopped at the Viewing Area to check on our national airlines. Malaysia Airline System Berhad (MAS) is the government-owned flag carrier of Malaysia. Malaysia Airlines operates flights from its home base, Kuala Lumpur International Airport and with a secondary hub at Kuching. The airlines plans to relocate its headquarters from Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah airport to KLIA in February 2012.

The Main terminal building or Terminal 1 is located in between the two runways. The contact pier is the rectangular-shaped terminal that is connected to the Main Terminal Building. It serves as the domestic terminal for Malaysia Airlines. Some international flights are handled there as well. Previously it used to cater to low-cost carriers' passengers. At the north side of the pier, it can only accommodate narrow-bodied aircraft. In contrast, the south side of the contact pier can accommodate Boeing 737and Boeing 747 or similar sized aircraft.

The Satellite Terminal A accommodates international flights departing and arriving at KLIA. Passengers have to travel to the satellite building via the Aerotrain. There is wide array of duty-free shops and prestige brand boutique in the satellite building. A number of restaurants and international airlines' lounges are available as well as an Airside Transit Hotel.

Within the terminal, wireless (Wifi) is provided free of charge. The terminal also has prayer rooms, showers and massage service. Various lounge areas provided, some including children's play areas and movie lounge, broadcasting movie and sport channels such as Star Movies. The terminal also features a natural rainforest in the middle of the terminal, exhibiting the Malaysia forests.

After finished our tour in KLIA, we took a short tea break in Old Town White Coffee. First time in my life having tea in airport @_@ Bear in mind, the price of drinks in airport will be rather expensive compare to other place. Anyway, once in a blue moon. Should be OK. =D

Although I had been to airport for twice, but I still love to go there because I will have a great chance to get closer to the big planes. Love planes very much. Every time when a plane flying over, for sure I'll looked up to see the plane. Such an unique interest I have. Hahaha.. Once again, I really enjoyed my day. Thanks to my beloved friends, June & Nigel. Cheers!!

Chu 15 - Sepang Gold Coast

Our next destination will be the Sepang Gold Coast. In Perak, you will have Teluk Batik beach and Teluk Rubiah beach, whereby Selangor state is not bad either, famous with Golden Palm. Sepang Gold Coast is a great escape, especially you stay in Kuala Lumpur and wanted to do something else than shopping in the same shopping centers and same amusement centers like KLCC, Pavillion, Berjaya Time Square or Sungai Wang Plaza. After the busy weekdays in Kuala Lumpur, a break away weekend holiday within driving distance to Sepang Gold Coast, is definitely a good choice.

Sepang Gold Coast

Sepang Gold Coast has been declared as the longest coastal paradise in Asia. Located at the Pantai Bagan Lalang which is around 60 - 75 minutes (about 80+ km) from Kuala Lumpur, 45 minutes from Putrajaya and 25 minutes from KLIA. We reached there almost 1pm and the weather is definitely very hot.

Since it was a public holiday, it was crowded with people. Quite hard for us to get a parking either, drive to the tail end of the beach to search for parking and finally managed to park our car in an open green field. The weather is too hot. Once get down from the car, Nigel immediately gets his sun block and applied it. Protecting from UV. Without wasting my time, I applied it as well. ^_*

I'm applying it as well

June applied it too

We started our tour at Sepang Gold Coast as soon as we finished applying the sun block. This is how the Sepang Gold Coast exactly looks like. The beach is cleared without any water. Everyone is walking to the centre of the beach to take a fresh air. Local people especially Malays like to have family picnics and camping activities from school trips. Youngsters were playing around. Some was playing beach football, some was flying kites and some was just lying on the beach.

In order to keep the beach clean, there is some rules and regulations that need to follow. Otherwise, you will be fine with minimum compound of RM1,000.

Sepang beach is full of lively species. Where ever you step your foot on, you definitely will see crabs and various of species. By the time we're there, it was low tide. Just nice for us to have a walk. We walked at least 2km out to the sea for photo shooting. At the same time, we also be very extra careful because the high tide water may comes anytime. Just a second, it can cause death.

Walked about 2km far from the shore, saw lot's of fishing net that used by fisherman for fishing crabs and other live species or even sea shells. Half way walking, Nigel told us to be careful and it's time to get back to the shore as the water is coming soon in quick way. We need to rush back to the shore immediately before the big wave of water comes. I'm really in fear of Tsunami. >_<

Before we back to the shore, I signed off here with my signature to remark that I had landed here. ^_* It is a great place to go even under the hot sun, tired and exhausted but worth it. Because it is hardly to walk around under the dry sea. =D

After a great walk, we felt thirsty and hungry as well. We stopped by at the hawker stall along the road side to buy some food to fill up our stomach. Burgers RM4 each for me and June, while Nigel had his Rojak Buah as lunch which is cost him at RM3. Not forgetting to get ourselves a cold drink at RM1 to quench off our thirst in such a hot weather. Enjoyed my day with both of you, June & Nigel. Thanks a lot. =D

How to go Sepang Gold Coast from Kuala Lumpur?

1. Drive towards KLIA (Kuala Lumpur International Airport)
2. Take note, before KLIA, there is a turning to Sepang F1 Circuit/LCCT (Low Cost Carrier Terminal)
3. Go all the way straight, as you are reaching the Sepang F1 Circuit, look for the signage to turn to Sepang Gold Coast. (You'd wouldn't want to missed it, so drive slower and keep to the left lane.)
4. Once you see Sepang F1 Circuit on your right side, go straight until you see the cross junction traffic light. Turn right (look for the signboard that says "Bagan Pelek".)
5. The roads will now be more narrow, just follow the signature to "Bagan Lalang, Sepang Gold Coast or Sg. Pelek".
6. After quite awhile of driving, you'll see a signature to "Seri Malaysia", follow the signage and you've arrived.
7. While return back to Kuala Lumpur, be-careful and don't go take the Klang way.
